WORDS & PHOTOS: Kenneth Coles

To find the definition of a true rockstar look no further than LP. With a blended style of 80’s hair metal, 90’s grunge, and 00’s punk she commands the stage with her presence. She makes the ukulele look like a rock and roll staple that rivals the Les Paul. Power stances, mic stand tilts, harmonica flips and tambourine drumsticking are awe inspiring.

LP’s vocal range is unparalleled. In the span of a song she can go from a deep growl to a high falsetto with no effort. Her music is emotional, genuine and real. There is something for everyone in her music and everyone you speak with about her has their own favorite song.

And somehow, during all of this LP finds subtle ways of letting the crowd know how special they are to her. She speaks to specific people, laughs when she doesn’t catch something she’s tossed and takes the time to sit and sing directly to three little girls standing in the front row. This was one show those in attendance won’t soon forget.
